Thanks La Tierra! y'all sure know how to throw a party!

05.01.10 | young musicians amaze me
Today I finished my classes at the Jazz School and was walking down the hall way as usual, when I heard a familiar song. It was my song! Georgia Peach to be exact. But it was a bunch of High School kids playing it. These were former students of mine, who I spent many many hours teaching how to hear something on the radio and being able to transfer it to their individual instrument. What a treat it was to hear this! These kids are amazing and I am honored to have them covering one of my songs. Keep it rocking band!

10.03.09 | Joe Bagale San Francisco Chronicle SFGate article
For Bagale, the gritty-voiced young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose performances with various Jazz Mafia bands have been lighting up local audiences, musical boundaries are meaningless.

09.14.09 | Joe Bagale nominated for 2009 SFWeekly Music Award
I just found out that I have been nominated for best Soul/R&B/Rock artist in this year's SF Weekly Music Awards. Very flattering to be recognized by this publication, but a great Honor to be in the same category as Kev Choice, the California Honeydrops, and Jennifer Johns. Good luck to everyone. The voting polls are open to the public, and when I say public I mean anyone who has an email. It takes about 30 secs, so please if you get a chance hit the link below and cast your vote. Thanks for everything!

07.16.09 | Joe Bagale plays Yoshi's SF on July 31st
YOSHI’S SF TO FEATURE R&B PHENOM JOE BAGALE FRIDAY JULY 31

The SF Bay Area welcomes NY transplant and R&B rising star Joe Bagale to San Francisco’s premier jazz venue, Yoshi’s SF, at 10 PM this July 31st. Bagale has steadily gained notoriety as both a multi-instrumentalist producer (2008’s Joe Bagale) and performer with acts such as The Jazz Mafia, Realistic Orchestra, Supertaster and the acclaimed “Brass, Bows & Beats: A Hip Hop Symphony,” for which he wrote and arranged vocal parts for 5 voices. At the age of 17, he received the ‘Outstanding Rhythm Section Award’ presented to him by living legend Wynton Marsalis and went on to study under such greats as Ron Carter and Steve Gadd, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Bagale’s talents have now erupted here on the West Coast as he has made rapid strides as a singer/songwriter while steadily performing and producing new music with a nod to classic giants.

Joe has performed extensively in the US and Europe, both solo and as a touring member with jazz/funk/pop luminaries Fred Wesley (of the James Brown J.B.’s), Christian McBride (McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, The Roots, etc), and the Czech Republic’s No. 1 selling artist, Lenka Dusilová. Easily drawing comparisons to Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, Joe Bagale’s slow-burning vocals and instrumental chops are beginning to shape the sound of modern Soul and R&B, putting him in the rare company of these two iconic talents.

The 26 year old Bagale will bring a well-rounded band to Yoshi’s, featuring Jazz Mafia veterans Pat Korte, drums (Shotgun Wedding Quintet), Matt Berkeley, keyboards (Supertaster), Adam Theis, bass, trombone ( Realistic, Shotgun), Jon Monahan, guitar (Realistic, Felonious) and Karyn Paige (Supertaster) on vocals and percussion. Virtuosic and versatile, the band boasts an open palette of abilities and a fluid, authentic funk flavor reminiscent of Herbie Hancock’s famed Headhunters band.
